TICKETS FOR SYMBOLS OF MORTALITY CONFERENCE 2025
NOW AVAILABLE
Mortality symbolism, in all its many guises, is an important part of our heritage and deserves to be treated as such. It resides in a landscape of both poignancy and sadness, each reflecting the lives, the beliefs and the attitudes to death of communities both past and present.
As part of the Symbols of Mortality Exhibition, opening in Orkney Museum February 2025, this online conference aims to bring about an interdisiplinary approach to the study of mortality symbolism, showcasing the work of some of the finest speakers in the death studies field, which include talks by Dr Robyn Lacy, Chris Woodyard, Dr Helen Frisby, Janine Marriot, Fran Flett Hollinrake, Sarah Shepherd, Michelle Keely-Adamson, Dr Dan O'Brien, Dr Josie Wall and Dr Rachel Askew, to name but a few.
So why not join us for this exciting and informative one-day event and grab a FREE ticket today.
Booking is essential. This event is FREE and will be conducted via a Zoom video link.
23 December 2024Merry Christmas
Wishing You A Very Merry Xmas
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a joyful festive season, in whatever guise that may be. I thank you all for your kindness and support. It is very much appreciated.
I have been rather silent over the past year on here, as I decided to take some time off, plus a significant house move also 'got in the way.' I am pleased to say that Morte Photography will resume research goals in 2025, with the added bonus of a large exhibition of work in Orkney Museum (2025), organising the inugural Symbols of Mortality Conference (2025), as well as significant book news. Watch this space, as they say.
Please do feel free to reach out at anytime. I am happy to answer any queries you may have. See you next year!
